With two hugely successful Leeds shows in the past 12 months, Soak, the city's s long-standing clubbing institution teams up with FAC 51 The Hacienda for its third and largest installment so far, coming to Church, Leeds newest and much-admired club for the very first time.
Taking place as the official after party following FAC 51's fast selling Hacienda Classical concert at Leeds First Direct Arena, Good Friday 14th April 2017, the after show will see the same standards set by the original Soak’s which defined clubbing across the North of England.
Putting together the same mix of Leeds residents to perform alongside special guests coming especially to the city, the Soak / Hacienda at Church brings double headliners US DJ's legends Derrick Carter and Francois Kevorkian across for rare and hugely anticipated appearances along with the best of The Hacienda and Soak's DJs.
Derrick Carter was born into the Chicago house scene and was instrumental in creating that sound. From early collaborations with Mark Farina and setting up the acclaimed Classic Recordings with Luke Solomun, Derrick's commitment to quality dance music throughout his career have marked him out as a true innovator.
His sets have built him a world-wide reputation as one of the underground pioneers and his sets although rooted in house, seamlessly incorporating disco, soul, jazz, and plenty more besides, making his debut at Church not one to be missed
Derrick is joined by François K. Originating from France but growing up in the NY underground clubs and guesting at The Paradise Garage, The Loft and Studio 54, led to him producing classic tunes including D Train’s “You’re The One For Me”, remixing “Situation” by Yazoo as well for Pet Shop Boys. The Cure, The Fatback Band, Depeche Mode’s “Violator” and Kraftwerk’s “Electric Cafe”.
Returning to DJ’ing from the early Nineties onwards, Francois played with Larry Levan as well as at the world’s best clubs, FK’s Wave Music label and Body & Soul parties continued his resurgence, which have carried on with François touring with Derrick May and establishing “Deep Space NYC” as his latest New York venture, reflecting François eclectic and futuristic style.
Back with Soak are The Hacienda's seminal DJ partnership who have sound tracked numerous Leeds events over the years, Mike Pickering and Graeme Park, as they come across from the First Direct Arena concert that night whilst local Leeds favourite Buckley is to open up the main room.
In Church's second room, the chapel. New Order's Peter Hook takes charge of a local contingent of DJ's with UpYerRonson’s Paul Murray, old friends Tony Walker from Love To Be, Leeds' ever present and Soak's original resident, Marshall and Leeds' DJ Miss Melodie, a resident at Speed Queen for some fifteen years complete the lineup.
